Summer Guest Tom Gallant (EN / FR) has worked in July and August as artist in residence in Nieuw Charlois Rotterdam, collaborating with a group of local artists on his project: “DE AANKONDIGINGEN AAN DE BIJEN”.
This project in progress will be presented from the 5th of September – 10th of October 2026

Tom Gallant collaborates with a group of local artists on several research projects within “De Aankondigingen aan de Bijen”, that will have its first public moment on September the 5th, 18.00 – 20.00 hours, guided by writer and curator Tiiu Meiner.

From the stories around the Argaiola, a Bask mourning candle used to announce the death of a family member, Tom has started his research into new meanings and design. Simultaneously he has asked eight artists to do the same. We’ve done research into the beeswax and the flowers as sources of live and form and connected the beeswax to the woolfelt we use in our work. This has lead to several prototypes that will be developed farther, in collaboration with Tom.
